have given up tons of fishing equipment to kids over the years .
mostly with the promise to take them for some KABOOM in the future .
gave a brother and sister a pair of blue and purple rod combos last year
this year we are going to go hammer with them
one of them got a shiney new stringer about 5 years ago
we took him out and put a fish on every clip on his first trip ever to ketch fish
of course my little one was in on that trip and acting all "pro like" at 4 years old
lots of laughs in a big way watching them negotiate with some sunfish
sure was fun day to say the least
made me about as happy as them that trip .

Life time license in TN is one of the best bargains and gifts to get a newborn.

I have no kids, but I've bought lifetime sportsman licenses for several friend's kids. It is an absolute bargain when they're infants. Parents usually have other child related things to spend money on and don't always have spare money at that time. Even if they don't use the privilege much, the money goes to a good cause and they never need to worry about getting ticketed for not having a license. I got my Lifetime License in 1986 and it has paid for itself many times over.
