I would go the small 12 volt battery route as well. Something small and lightweight. I hook my light to my lithium battery I already have for my fish finder.

Small rechargable 12 volt battery would be the way to go
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Lots and lots of you tube videos on LED Lights that are water proof and 12v. it's pretty simple really.

I was thinking about riding mower battery they are lightweight and I could build a box for it.

They are heavier than the feeder batteries

This one is 12 ah, is a sealed batteries and a lot lighter than a mower battery. I believe Super Dave said he has one that is lithium Ion. Which would give even better performance

I went to interstate battery and got a 12v 5 AH battery for like 45.00...but you have to use a small charger for it. A regular 12v battery charger puts too much juice out for the battery to handle and will ruin the battery...

If I was going battery I would use this one. We use this at work. Bright as get out with two beam choices. They are pretty dang tough.
