    I hate underspin for spider rigging! I always hit the trigger when I set the hook. Either a cheap baitcaster with thumb bar or spinning reel would be my choice. They are basically line holders that you need to be able to let line out of easily or reel a little...

    I’ve had those Shimano reels for a long time and they just work and nothing fancy. I prefer to have all the same reels on the poles so I know that one complete handle turn is 28-30” of retrieved line and I can set all the depths accurate from rod to rod.
