Yes....I’ve had about 5 of them. Gave them all away on my channel or to folks that couldn’t really afford a fishing rod. It was not the first rod I’ve owned with those guides. As to the claim of extra casting distance I had no way to verify that as I would need the BnM version of the rod to do that. I don’t think it hurts casting distance though. Those guides do away with line slap and it makes casting quieter. I used the rod a lot to field test it. In February I’ll be getting the BnM version to test out and give away.

I used 4lb Stren Crappie on my TSS this past season. I’m with Randy in that I don’t think it added anything one way or the other. Maybe 4 lb test has something to do with it. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the rod a lot, but maybe it’s more of a marketing thing. The TSS got me into ultralight fishing.

Bob, I drank the Koolaid of ultralight a very long time ago. But I’ve always had a pretty unremarkable rod. Had a 5’ Fenwick once that someone lost over the side and never replaced, and a Browning Silaflex rod when I was in my twenties. Other than that I’ve pretty much been runnin junk. This TSS and Browning Airstream that I just bought are the nicest I’ve ever owned, and if I understand right, nowhere near up to the quality and action of the JDM stuff that a lot of you use. I seldom fish open water and even when I find some beds to work, there’s a lot of junk nearby and I couldn’t relax having an expensive rod of that caliber in my hand. Maybe these will change my mind, they’re awful nice to me.
