I use a hatch in the boat but have a small travel bag I take when I’m invited in another boat. The hard Plano boxes that take the trays are nice but don’t fit the way I do things. A bag has worked well in the past but it had a rubber bottom and would hold water if rained on. The white Plano boxes are all over my boat and shed and I take what I need for the day, so whatever I use will accommodate that line of thought. If I had to remove my gear when the trip was done I would have a good sized bag.

Over the years I think I have tried every configuration known to man from the hard boxes with 3700 plano boxes storage to the large soft side bags and now I have finally ended up using 2 med soft side bags and for my plastics I have one of the zip up Berkley wallet style binders.
I went with 2 of the Ike Flambeau bags on my last switch. I like the flaps which fold down acting as a rain cover and the squick connects on the corners which when using the top handle eliminates the pressure applied to the zipper picking up the bags weight.
Sounds like a lot but it actually makes it easier in the boat as I know what is in each bag and it is easy to grab the smaller bag I need to access the right box rather than have to always fool with a big bag.
Also the bait binder works well as that is the most accessed bag and the binder keeps everything organized, easy to get a fresh bait out.
Out of everything I have tried this system works the best and yes I do find I sometimes switch out the storage boxes depending on where and how I will be fishing that day.
At least for me I find the multiple smaller bags to be easier to work with while I am out on the water.![]()

A lot us of own the bags. A little clue might help every one I keep a garbage bag in the bag if starts to rain slip the garbage bag over the tackle bag. Keeps it dry.
