    Default Old River Morganza 8-4-18

Fished solo this morning after deciding to leave the boys home. Should’ve brought them with me but I wanted to fish hard and it’s tough to while playing guide. Maybe my luck would’ve been better.

Ended up bringing home 1 bass and 8 sac-a-lait. Talked to a couple others that didn’t do too well either. Caught the bass on a buzz bait early and lost a couple more close to the boat. Caught the sacs on shiners in 15-20 fow, about 10 ft deep. 6 of them were caught over a span of about 10 minutes but the bite turned off after it got cloudy. I’ll be bringing my good luck charms next time.

I thought I was going to do worse. At 930 I only had the bass and 2 sacs. It was slow for the most part.

Yep. That’s what I told my wife. Add some fries and tater tots and we have dinner. Thinking about making a quick bass trip in the morning. I should’ve had 3 or 4 in the boat over a hundred yard stretch. Haven’t bass fished in years.

Went back for a quick trip today and was skunked. Lost a couple bass on topwater again, pulled in a gar, and didn’t have a single bite on shiners. Only fished til 10. The boys had fun though. Name: IMG_3697.jpg

That’s all that counts. The boys had fun. You took a really nice picture too.

Yes. I tried several docks that I’ve had luck at in the past but didn’t catch any. I was using shiners and didn’t try jigs. Caught all 8 on a floating raft. I didn’t try as hard yesterday. Mainly bass fished. The gar were everywhere but I don’t keep them.

I saw several boats trolling and I’m thinking about setting up my boat for it. My dad used to troll with 10-12 cane poles during the summer when I was a kid. I have 2 clamp on rod holders. Might start there and see what happens.

You fish just the perimeter of those rafts?
