Made it out this afternoon to a local lake. Hit a spot that was suggested to me by Bigeyurk25 to start with. Managed to catch one decent gill. Fished that area for about an hour before I decided to make a move. Headed to a bay surrounded by pine trees. Put on the waders and decided if this didn't work I was heading home to some cold beer. Well the cold beer had to wait. Started with the trusty black and white gulp minnow under a bobber. It did take a little time to find them but, when I did, it was game on! Caught about 30 fish, mostly crappie. Only two fish were caught on a live minnow. One crappie and a 22 inch channel cat. Kept eleven for a dinner. It was a great day to get out. I did change to chartreuse and it seemed to be the hot color this afternoon. All pictures went back into the lake.

On a side note, ten of the eleven fish I kept were females with eggs.

Yep, I remember. Funny thing is they were hitting it so quick and hard the gulp only lasted for about three fish. But, damn it was fun!![]()

Here’s what last weekend consisted of for me. Good ole AEP in SE Ohio. Only fished Saturday. Solely fished gulp. Somewhere around 20 bass, 30 gills, and the first ever crappie in our group down there at 13” in. Caught him jigging at my feet in a huge lay down going in and out of the branches with my gulp. Prob about 15 feet of water. Had 2 huge breakfasts as you can see and just really enjoyed the weekend down there. Can’t argue with being in the outdoors

You guys certainly know how to do it.
This is the 1st year in probably close to 30 years we didn't make at least 1 tent camping trip somewhere. Between the miserable cold winter that wouldn't go away and my knee surgery 3 weeks ago we couldn't find the time. It's early in the year so who knows we may try to go somewhere.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. Thank You to all that have served!
