I would almost bet that the "stripe bass" you are catching are actually white bass. Alot of people don't know the difference and that is why there are no more large stripers (Hybrids).

Made it to Clinton this last Tuesday. Found it odd only five trailers in lot and road bridge was ghost town. Warmest water was 54 and that was only about 100 yards within bridge. Everywhere else was only 40.
Was as trying new bait cast crappie rod and beaver bottom baits. Ended day with only 12 crappie. 6 being legal but tossed back. Caught most in hot water. A few in cold. Hooked a keeper 20 feet down on beaver. Also tail hooked a five pound cat stuffed in a one pound cat body in cold. It was feasting on dying shad in the cold water
end of day last hour got about thirty stripe bass as I switched to go go minnow on road runner head. Then was throwing crappie magnet under float getting the rest of crappie
warden was waiting for me at ramp. In last 20 years have only need checked handful of times. Three of which this past month. I did not keep any. Warden talked of people keeping multiple limits of short fish Glad to see them out as I like this lake and have seen poachers over the years elsewhere
Warden also mentioned plant shut down for some reason maybe maintence
went back Friday with a partner water was slightlly warmer at bridge many more keepers even more shorts. Water was about 60. Then went exploring. It seemed coves warmed better then discharge area. Found productive water in 46 degree range best bet jig and plastic under float and shallow. Ended day with 13 keepers over 10 and six stripes around 12" between two of us through back some boarder line keepers. Lake was empty that day too. Weather was good warm and water flat
saturday went to navy pier in Chicago an hour half in other direction. I have been getting good perch on crappie plastics up there. Partner caught most fish. Action was good all day on shorts. Got about 100 total. Many doubles on two jig rigs. Pretty good in sub 40 degree water. Been there a few times this month. Fishing was better a few weeks back with many days getting limits of 15 fish over 10". A fun place parking kind of expensive

I think the stripe bass are hybrids. They seem too long for white bass. I was able to post photos photos before and it took forever. I only have a phone and I pad. I tried photo bucket before and got locked out I think.
