Default Thanks to all that share. Crappie fishermen are true americans

All my life I have been a sportsman and I have tried to find time to enjoy the outdoors. I grew up farming with my dad so from my Early childhood until I was 40 I spent numerous hours helping or pleasing my dad. I have also worked for almost 30 years in the fire service and emergency management providing assistance to this in need. Of course like all of us, a wife, kids, work, divorce and debt has kept me out of the outdoors for pleasure more than I should have let it. I have tried to become a crappie fisherman for the last 10 years. I got to be ok in Eastern NC in the rivers, then a new marriage moved me a little far away. Learning to fish new water has been challenging. This week I went along with my wife on a conference to Greensboro NC. I thought here's my chance to go to some lakes I have heard so much about.
I reached out for help and information on the site. Shortly Matt answered up with everything I could need except limo service to the dock and a guided trip. Many times I have asked and received from some of you on this site. I see many other postings that you answer up to. No matter if it's a new guy, trammitic health issues, what to do or where, you have come through for those in need. I want to thank Matt personally and to each of you that offer help. In this crazy time we live in it is great that so many of you have kept true to our heritage and history by enjoying the outdoors and helping us who don't make time like we should maximize our time on the water. Matt thanks for helping me catch one of the largest crappie I have ever had. Thanks for keeping my faith in us as Americans and helping each other. Thanks for making me want to be better at crappie fishing so I can pass it on.

I'm so glad that you was able to see new waters and catch some fish while you was there. I do hate that you do not get into him like we have been the past 3 weeks. But there is a lot of technique in different ways to fish for Crappie and a bunch of ins and outs that you pick up over time. If you keep it up you will find a style that works for you. I have seen a bunch of fishermen out there that do not want to help or share information. But what is the fun of that is when you cannot share and help someone in need? If you think of it everyone was once that guy that didn't know where or how to fish and it was not fun in those shoes. I am just so fortunate and completely blessed that I have a wife that forces me to go fishing to buy new fishing reels and rods and can clean fish better than most men that I know if it wasn't for her I would not be the fisherman I am today. Anytime you're coming back this way let me know ahead of time and we will plan a fishing trip and I'll give you that limo ride ( more like a chevy truck ) and a guided trip. Lol also, thank you for your service I have a sister that is a nurse in the ER her boyfriend is a first responder and my cousin and uncle are firemen we cannot do it without you guys and gals. THANK YOU. This is my wife's latest suggestion so we can keep crappie minnows for whenever we need

Congratulations on catching some during your trip. This is the best site on the web for info . Have yet to meet a C.D.C. member that is not willing to help. If ya ever come over to our side of the line shout out. We fish Wylie and a few more lakes nearby. Be glad to show ya the scenery. And may catch a few.

You know this sounds like we need to do some sort group topic. Getting together to swap stories, learn, go fish different areas sounds like a new topic to open to set the dates and places to go. Maybe once a quarter meet with boats to explore your local waters?
I recently went to high rock lake for the first time, cloudy, raining and low pressure but a friend on the site "Matt" gave me enough advice, I mean really put up with a lot of questions and helped me catch one of the biggest crappie I have ever caught. I was thinking I could put a bed in back of my campershell, bring camping gear and stay at the campground. That would allow me to fish this area more. If some of you wanted to get together then and sit around the camp fire talking lies about fishing im in.

Great post brother. I have written much about the very things you are referring to regarding the awesomeness of the CDC forum.
Glad to hear you had a good day on the water... and hopefully things will keep getting better for you by and by.

I live in Tarboro. Use to live near Elizabeth City. Fished Pasquotank, Perquimans and it tributaries while there. My grandad used to light tired on fire on the beach of the Albemarle sound and fish his nets by hand after working all day on his farm. I would give anything to have his old flat bottom juniper skiff. I remember fishing in it with him and how it looked. I remember once when I was around 4 I was in the back of his old 1965 Chevy truck with wooden flat bed. He was riding the big lead ditches from the farm to the swamps and gigging carp with a pitch fork that had string tied to it. They would come up the big ditches to spawn in spring. He would give them to folks to eat or stew. Once they were on the back of the truck they sometimes lost there eggs. Granddaddy said eat you some apple sauce boy, about the time I started for the eggs, grandma fussed him out. I still have his old twin hammer and trigger double barrel shotgun with gouges in the stock from where he kept it behind the truck seat. Miss those days.
