Sorry, but this is the only picture I have of my setup. I really don't "Spider Rig" per se, but could if I wanted to ... I mostly push jigs & cranks, or cast jigs.

Abbott ... from the deck to the top of the white collar you see on the umbrella pole is 40" .... not sure how much additional length the umbrella section rod itself will add. (Likely no more than 3ft) Umbrella will also tilt. Bought it at Target, and they have similar ones for around the same price (~$20) ... and they're 6' tall. My guess is this one is the same length.

BUT ... I could raise the umbrella higher if I wanted it higher. All I'd need to do is remove the cotter pin, lift the umbrella pole up as high as I wanted it, drill through the cotter pin hole into the umbrella pole, then replace the cotter pin. I placed the cotter pin through them to stop the wind from lifting the umbrella out of the upright PVC pole ... which it did on the first trial run. (You can see the cotter pin head just to the left of the Coke can ... it's the little silver circle backdropped by the black Handi-holder)

This setup has been modified since this picture was taken. You will notice that the seat pole is an offset pole, and the PVC T allows the whole setup to wobble side to side a bit. It also does that when I'm using a regular straight pole, but I've modified it with a reducer and a section of PVC pipe that goes around the straight seat pole .... so no more wiggle room. My buddy is fixing up a mod for the offset pole, using clamps & threaded rods, but I haven't gotten around to getting my offset pole over to him for measurements. I prefer using the offset seat pole, as it's more comfortable and doesn't crowd my knees so close to the rod holders.

I'm using 1.5" PVC pipe, and the straight seat pole is about 1 3/8" ... and that little bit of "wiggle room" allows the umbrella to sway several inches left/right of center. The added length of pipe (~ 7" long) and the reducer cap (1.5" wide) fits snugly against the seat pole, and doesn't allow any "wiggle room".

Mighty ... see my reply to Abbott, concerning the modifications made. But, the short answer is ... yes, if I'm using the straight seat pole (now that the modifications have been made). If the bracing mod my buddy has in mind for the offset pole works as planned, then it too will be much more sturdy.

Right now, the horizontal section is glued together, but the vertical section is not glued to it ... so that I can break the setup down and store it in the rod locker. It's been out in 20+mph winds, and the umbrella will invert (front half) but the vertical pole will not come out of the T in the horizontal section ... even though it's only pushed in. My buddy glued his whole setup, and when not in use it's cumbersome to deal with because it won't fit into the rod locker and has to be laid out on the floor of the boat.

You can't beat Millennium Marine products, period! The spyderlok's are the best rod holders in the industry for their ease of tuning and adjustability. Installing a few extra bases around the boat and your now even more versatile. Mine you I have (4) sets of the 4 rod holders. And we just upgraded our seats to the saltwater edition seats and they are fantastic!

If your foot controlled Trolling Motor wants to " turn" on you by itself, try this. trollperfect.basseast.com
I'm using one on a motorguide, 75#. It makes a world of difference. Just don't over tighten it.

Foot controlled trolling motors have a tension adjustment on them, if yours is turning you should tighten the cables a bit. A variable speed trolling motor works much better for spider rigging in my opinion.
