Thread: Spare prop

I think it all depends on your situation of where you are fishing. I do not usually keep a spare prop in the boat because i normally fish open lakes, but if i was going to be offshore or in a stump filled remote area i would definitely consider keeping an extra prop aboard.

I fish on Santee. I have a stainless prop and use the old one as a spare prop. I carry a few tools. I recently hit a stump and spun a hub but didn't know what that was, so now I know WHEN to use the spare prop and tools

I've spun a hub once going down the river just after daylight, and hadn't hit anything. It must have been from prior hitting stumps and it finally gave away. Lake, swamp, or river, it's always a long ways to the landing when you loose the prop.

Ive ALWAYS had a spare, and do now, but have never carried it with me. Like Ray...it would be a spare in case I needed to send out my SS prop for repairs. Ive been broke down on the water before but it was never because of a torn up prop.
