Default Top 5 Crappie Lakes in Louisiana

If you were to rank the top 5 or 3 crappie lakes in LA, for size and quality, what would they be?

    Thanks,

I haven't fished much outside of my NELA area so i can't say for sure but I think that Darbonne, Toledo Bend and Larto are gonna make any serious top 5 list.

These would definitely be in my top 5. I would add Poverty Point and Old River to complete a top 5.

Lake Verrette would have to be in that number. IMO. Three of your top ten fish came from that lake.

Well If you are going off of size, then my personal favorite would be Bundicks but that is a very small lake and probably will not make many of yall's list, except Jlaughlin's. So I would have to go with 1. Larto and followed closely by 2. Darbonne. As far as the other 3, I haven't fished the other lakes to be able to rank them. I give Larto the slight edge over Darbonne because the fish I have caught at Larto have been a slightly better quality than the ones I have caught at Darbonne although they both have QUALITY fish as well as quantity.

For consistency (having a good chance any time of the year to catch a mess of good fish) I would say D'arbonne and Saline/Larto

But when the conditions are right, MS River oxbows are where its at, but just not consistent

There are probably 10 to 15 other places I would go within 1 hour of Monroe when conditions are right before I went to D'arbonne or Larto though

I'm biased and while not a "lake", b/c I've never fished a freshwater "lake".....
I'd prefer to know any one of the local river systems around, back and forth, over any lake, there's plenty of big fish and always numbers.

Thank you for the information gents. We are gathering intel to plan and book our next year's trip. Been going to Lake Washington for the last 3 years, but we are looking for our next bucket list location.
