Two birds with one stone
Bird #1 - Seems like everyday my mind drifts back to spring camps. Maybe it's reading about the ones being planned around the country or seeing pictures of the ones already happening. We enjoy some of, if not arguably the best crappie fishing in the entire country. Numbers, size, trophies we have several lakes that offer them all! And the ability to fish just about whatever style you wish. But I know for me, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, any of my outdoor hobbies aren't fulfilling without some fellowship. It just bugs me that we have kind of rolled over about spring camp. Not one thread aside from G or Satdoc asking for volunteers (unanswered none-the-less), I cannot abide this. Isn't that one of the shining pillars of this site? Fishing, and fellowship in a family friendly environment. I know we are all busy, I am too, but what is life without fellowship fellas? How many here have made lifelong friends from this website? How many have had tragic losses in there life and wish the could just have one time together? How many of us have had our own scares this year...? Let's not let life prevent us from having some fun. We give so much of our time to work/jobs as it is.
Bird #2: Since I have been a member of this site, I have seen people request an event at Barnett. From what I can recall one FJ was held here in that time and camps haven't given it a nod. So let's do it now, I mean, no one else is stepping up.
I will throw my name in to organize a Barnett Bash. But I would like some help if anyone else is willing. I know we don't have a Cossar State park with cabins and RV spots together, but we have more RV Parks, motels, hotels, cabins, restaurants, and watering holes per capital than any other lake. I have never been able to attend a camp, and I won't be able to make Crankfest. So for me, this is my only chance right now.
All I am asking here is, what is the level of interest? I will be glad to organize something if it is just two or three of us or the whole darn site. Respond or PM if you would be interested in attending or helping to organize. I'm thinking mid March or late April. Also if you have any ideas for events or a "home base" for the weekend, Ill he happy to hear them too. I have never done one of these or even been able to attend one, but I could throw a pretty mean party back in the day, haha. When you spend 280+ days at sea, you try to make as much out of your time on land as you can.

I am game for sure will get to see Don Don and a slew of other guys that lives close by
We've had 2-3 tourneys in Barnett. One had a good turnout, 1 and ok turnout and the other, we had major tstorms called for. I held them there when I was lake master. We also had a cookout one day with a big fish tourney. Great time. Most of the folks that fish the tourneys live up north and won't drive to Jackson for a tourney. As it was explained to me by 2-3 of them, it's to far and they can't spend several days Prefishing. When I was told that, that's when I and a few others quit the tourneys.

thanks Donnie, you were the only new board member when I retired that tried to keep one down here.

Seems like it would be worth a try...might be enough folks interested..Good luck with it.
I remember reading the banter when I first joined the site. A shame, I would love to see it under consideration again. Doesn't seem to affect the guys fishing MCC, too. Maybe a good turnout here could renew the interest.
An inexpensive big fish competition culminating in a fish fry/pot luck one of the days might be a good idea. Though I would like the focus to be on fun and fellowship and less on competition.

Hope this all comes together and for the record it was suggested that a middle mississippi fruit jar thing be started, the last 2 tournaments at Barnet had 6 teams enter them (those results are in the FJ forum to back up what I say), hate this got drug up again because it really has nothing to do with what you are trying to do. All you can do is set a date and location and go with it, if I don't have a conflict Ms Tammy and I will be there as we are at most camps.
