I would think they are private and therefor they can restrict access. Private boat docks would be different cause the power companies or Army Corp permit those. Interested to hear DNRs take.

I don't think you can stand on or attach to a slip unless you got permission it's private property. You can't block a slip either. You can fish all around as long you don't touch or interfere is what I understand. Same as a personal boat dock you may get shot there! Let us know what you find out.

The water is public property. Long as you don't trespass or touch his dock or boat, you are withinyour legal right. Some property owners don't know or accept this and may threaten to call the law. If they do I offer to call DNR, who has jurisdiction over the lake, if they promise to wait with me until they arrive.

Ray is right, public waters are public, even around marinas! Just don't tie off or get off on their dock!!!

Ray and opiemusRex are right. On lake Murray the water belongs to scelectandgas. You can fish around docks and marinas but you cannot trespass on them. Never heard of a marina giving someone a hard time because you were fishing around them. That is running off business.

Up here in KY the small lakes I fish don't have no bridges no docks and Marinas won't let you get with 100 feet close to them to fish.

Ray, OpiemusRex and Sinkermaker are all correct...And you can believe a marina owner is well aware of the laws also, But I'm guessing the Marina owner could say you where causing a potential danger or hazard to his customers... Local law enforcement would likely defer to the owners claim of safety....Not saying it's right just sayin it is what it is.....
