I have a couple of friends that have done barge work, they would come home with a pocket full of money and spend it all on women and whiskey and by the time the money ran out it was time to get back on the boat. Fun times for someone in their 20's.

Hahaha, I have known a couple of deckhands that do that every hitch. Routinely blow through $4000 in two weeks and are embarrassed to come back to the boat if they are not broke. Funny thing is the have nothing to show for it when it's gone. Ran into a couple of guys before who ride over and spend most of the year or more on the boats. Something about Mr. Lawman was snooping around and alibi's and whatnot..... I didn't ask more.

Luckily most guys are pretty level headed. Oh and that trout was a personal best for me.
