Not sure I've ever fished sacs from a boat other than with a "long" pole besides casting ultralights with a slip cork from the bank.
Not sure where your "south" is but pretty sure Southerners around my way have caught on to a "long pole" a loooong time ago.

Adam, Bob is from the Houma area. Until a few years ago I very seldon saw anyone fishing with a long pole. Now it's becoming more common. It's just so much fun hanging on to a nice slab or bass and fighting him on a light long pole. Also you don't get tired out from casting all day.
