I fished the Flint River today trying a few new things. The water was clear, 52 degrees and I was targeting gills with artificials. They weren't interested in spinners, just bass and strip biting so I kept changing baits until I happened on a 1/32oz jig head with a chartreuse Bobby Garland Itty Bitty. Game on at that point, I caught gills all over the place, a few small bass and strip and the occasional small Crappie. I ended the day with half a limit of large gills and 6 Crappie on a beautiful fall day. I love fishing the river once the recreational canoe and kayakers quit for the year.

Dad and I fished yesterday on the south end of the lake. Cleaned a total of 35 keepers. Some fish came from bluffs in 20FOW suspended in 10-14ft. Other fish came from boatdocks. I think a total of 50 keepers were caught but we let the smaller ones live to see another day.

Fished bobby garlands/panfish assassins on 1/16th oz jigs. The best color was electric chicken. Forgot what the water temp was, but the wind was FOR SURE blowing out of the NNW.

Some of the fish are already in the cooler in the picture below.

Fishing before work wouldn't work for me. If I started catching fish, I'd have to call in sick and stay. Your a better man than me, LOL!

I'm with DB. Have the "just one more catch" syndrome. It's bad:-) I am impressed if one can fish before work.

    Kayak Trip Report, Indian Creek.

I made a short trip to Indian Creek this morning fishing from 7:00AM till about 11:00AM. I kept half a limit and returned another dozen that would have kept. I also returned many, many short Crappie. Looks like next year should be a good year for Crappie. Best bait was a 1/16oz White Marabou jig fished single pole on isolated laydowns. The water was 52 degrees and very clear with visibility of about four feet.
