    Default Henderson....11/10 & 11/13....

    11/10 Thursday.....

A long hard day....I guess the cold slowed them down some (but not me)....shiners of course....4 to 6 feet deep...ran across Mermentau in his new G3 boat( and I believe his grandson)....good to see you my friend....kept these 6 sacs.....

    11/13 Sunday........

Daylight to noon...kept 3 bass (big one 3.54#...20" long)..caught on my new rod & reel with white Boo Yah 3/8 0z spinnerbait & Colorado blades...Kept 17 sacs, big one 14"....bunch more real nice....I was ready to quit the sac fishing & try for a few more bass...the front end of the boat was next to a timber piling...as I started to troll away from the piling the TM got hung up in a monofilament net (like a gill net) with a big (3/8") rope all wrapped around the TM....tried to pull the TM up but it was hung to bad....couldn't budge it...had to lay down on my belly with scissors and started cutting away....finally got it loose to raise it and then had to cut it all away from the prop area....I thought maybe I should just quit for the day.....picked up everything, life jacket on, kill switch engaged and hit the starter...cranking battery dead.....I knew the time to replace it was close.....I think someone was giving me the signal to definitely quit for the day....those bass can wait another day.....after finding my pliers, I disconnected the cranking battery and hooked up to one of the TM batteries.....ZROOOOOM and we are off....it was a great day....the good news is I will soon have a new set of batteries....I think these are 4 years old....

"D"....I have plenty baits so I will pass on the contest....

    Bruce:
Sorry to hear about you battery problem. That has nagged at me since my first boat years ago. Thankfully that's never happened on the water but in the driveway before heading out. I always check before leaving home.
To that end, I took an old pair of cheap jumper cables and cut them to 2 feet (my batteries are real close together). Beats having to break out the tools and a lot quicker. All I want is to crank and go home. So far they stay stowed in my front compartment and have never been used.
    Good fishing,
    Paul

Thanks Paul....someone else on here (I think Randy or PPG) did that with the cables....this happened to me once before about 12 years ago....so I knew I wouldn't be stranded....my batteries are very close.....also, my TM batteries are set up for 24 V .....I didn't want to take a chance of damaging my outboard motor....

Nice catch Bruce! I too have learned to start listening when the good Lord tells me it is time to quit and head in. Thanks for the pictures!

Hate to hear you had to deal with some issues but it sounds like the good outweighed the bad on that trip! Enjoyed your report

Nice catch once again Bruce. Sorry about the battery problems - been there, and done that. Yep, me who carries short jumper cables I put together for that very reason.
