    Default White Oak Lake 6-9-16

I was busy this morning washing and waxing my truck when my dad drove up with his old flat bottom hooked up to the back of his truck. He had just come from White Oak Lake and gave me his fish to clean and give to a friend. Dad caught 4 crappie and 2 bluegills and had another "something big" break off in the old Johnson Hole. That happens quite often there....probably a cat. 74 years young and still goin! Proud of my Pops today. I hope I'm still going at that age. GTT

Ah, a truck guy. That's Dad's 1987 GMC. It's got a brand new 350 in it and is in pretty darn good shape. He debated on giving it to my son when he turned 16, but just couldn't turn "Blue Boy" loose. It's just like him......old body, new ticker, still going strong! GTT

my brother in law had an 87. loved it. first year for fuel injection. it was white with some wild flames on front. my other brother in law is a mechanic at a chevy lot. he pulled up in a fully restored 68 one day. he was working on it. it was updated with a newer motor. disc brakes all around. air. really pretty truck. i know how he feels. lol trucks are relationships. cant just get new ones.

The lower end was drained dry. The upper end was left alone. We always fish the upper end as my dad and 3 uncles went in together and bought a cabin on that end back in the early 1980s. The lower end has refilled and I understand is literally full of fish, but you can only keep bluegills and cats on it and maybe bass??? Not sure about that end. Some Game & Fish guys told my friend that there are some 2 lb crappie in there, but the limit is ZERO and will be until 2018. That's what I've heard. GTT

Good stuff GTT. Next chance you get go share a boat with your pops, then come back here and share. I really enjoy seeing threads about fishing with family. I have some great memories fishing with my dad and brothers and hope my kids have those memories to look back on with fondness.

Thats awesome Dude...Tell your Dad to keep after em. I remember a friend and Ole Timer who fished Lake Conway Till 95-96 years old out of a little water scamp in the back of his truck. His name was Homer Smith and he did nothing but jig fish. I would always help him load and unload his boat from his truck. He ust to fish under a bridge every morning during the heat of the summer. Homer passed away at 97 I can still see him fishing on Lake Conway. Miss that Ole Guy he was about 70 when i met him.
