there are many transducer options and if you choose the wrong one the unit will not work correctly. good chance it is operator error. I have never had any trouble with my lowrance 7 gen2 touch other than when I also input the wrong transducer type. after about a month, I finally noted it when going thru all the settings. sometimes you just have to pay attention to the directions![]()

Does this happen every time you turn it on? Does it freeze on that screen and go dark or does it get past that screen to the main screen?
Ciller, after you accept, hit your power button until you get the brightest screen. It's made like this to use at night when a brightly lit screen will blind a fella.

Sometimes when I put one of my units to sleep, power/enter, and then later wake it up, power, the screen will stay dark. If I cycle through the options with the cursor, or wait, it will brighten back up. At least this is my story, HDS 10 GEN 1 and HDS GEN 2, they both do it. If I catch the Lowrance logo briefly Iighting up and hit the power button all is good.

Hey, tell me a story!

Thanks a lot for the input . Looking forward to getting back on the water and trying the power button gambit. Wish I could test this theory in my shop but the dang thing only malfunctions on the water. I have loved this unit- been a game changer for me but it's not been perfect tho all in all it doesn't seem to hate me the way my TV remote and laptop do. It just pranks me now and then.

Baloney. Your shop is dark enough for you to see the display. Out on the water, it's still on, but you can't see it because of the brightness of the daylight. Turn it on in your shop and do as Gambit states or give me a holler. Just don't ask me to rotate your screen left or right!

Baloney was correct Reaper and so was the advice you all tendered- when all else fails pull out the instruction manual, which I did and of course it said to hit the power button til it brightens ( which is most likely why it went dark in the first place) anyway, thanks for the help- works great now even on the water. Ironically when I turned on my new Garmin front locator yesterday on oologah it went dark immediately and no, hitting the power button didn't fix it. I got it working but don't really understand how I did it. Back to the book. Craig, check out what was in my smoker when I read your Baloney post!
