Opiemus Rex and I went out Friday to check out a couple of his honey trees that had been producing well for him. Unfortunately all the bigger fish had moved off the brush and we (mostly Jeff) caught a number of smaller fish with just a couple over 8" so we did not keep any. Both of us caught a huge gar that kept us busy but added nothing to the bag.
I decided to go out this morning and try them again. We are normally in church but I had to drop my wife off a 7 am for a bus trip she us taking and it was near where I fish so there you go.
I managed a decent mess with a couple of 13" ones. Ronnie (stumphunter) had tied me some jigs that were similar to a Hal Fly jig that I used years ago but is no longer made. It worked really well today and all my fish were caught on it.
There is a big difference in a 13" and a 9.5" fish as seen in the picture. The smallest fish on the table was 9.5 " but looks much smaller beside the larger fish.
I thought it would show in the picture on the tackle box but hard to see. It is a 1/32 with black head, silver body and white marabou tail.
I found these fish around docks in Beaver Dam Creek.

Tim, this is how I fished years ago but I realized Friday watching OpieRex(Jeff) I was really rusty and that is part of the reason I went today. I knew I was missing bites. Started feeling the subtle bump better today.Same thing jigging the brush piles with you. It takes some practice to feel the bite when it is light.

Way to go Ray! Those are some nice ones! Like Tim, I'm glad to see you're knocking the rust off your one pole skills. It really helps this time of year. Can't beat feeling the thump. It's my favorite method!

Nice going Ray! Congratulations! I've got to give that a try. Are you using 4lb or 6lb? Jig a 1/32 or 1/64? Thanks for the report and pics.
