    Default Huh moment

We live along a small river and have been using a canoe on it. Decided to get a 1436 Jon boat. More comfortable. Went to Bass Pro. They had 1542 boat. Went in to buy it Memorial Day. The guy said they couldn't sell boats on Sunday's or holidays because of the Blue Law. And also because the State dMV office was closed. HUH. Told him we couldn't come back we were there now. So w went to Cabela's and they had 1436 boat. Went in to buy it and no problem. They said they didn't have any restrictions on when they could sell a boat. As long as they were open they would sell. They had never heard that before. So we came home with new small boat. BP lost that sale.

No St. Charles store. Husband is working 9 hours a day and Saturdays. Only time to fish or do anything is Sunday. So don't have time to run to city in evenings. The only used boats we found were really rough.

Well went to get boat registered. Cabelas has to fill out the back of the certificate of origin. So guess I will be wasting 4 hours Wednesday going back down to get them to fill out the paperwork. The lady that does this only works until 4:30 so going after hubby gets off work isn't an option. The guy handed us paperwork and said just take it to DMV. I thought it was strange that nothing was getting filled out but they change rules so you are never for sure. Frustrating because it is 1 1/2 hours down and back with good traffic.

First I had heard of it but this is what I found on it.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Blue law pertains mostly to alcohol sales for religious beliefs but missouri has that statute attached to it.

Call them first then mail the paperwork to them to fill out and return.

Called and talked to them. The back of the paper that had their info on it had to be notarized by them. The HR person was notary. I also printed out the form from the DMV. They looked at the paperwork that came with boat and said they never saw anything like that before. WHAT. Also pulled out the other paper I had printed. The girl at CS said she had seen someone fill out that before. Well duh it what gets filled out to get title. They finally got stuff filled out but didn't know dealer number. Called someone on walkie and I heard the guy say try the Kansas City number. NO that is in Kansas. Need your MO number. The guy in Marine dept didn't know anything about paperwork. They decided to check in office and found number on license framed on wall. Good grief this was ridiculous. Got it finally done. Stopped at DMV and everything went smooth there. Someone needs to do some training for boat sales and paperwork.

If you have a friend or relative that runs a license bureau it is a real handy. You call them before you do anything and they can help a lot. I found that out buying boats out of state, used stuff, lost title stuff. It's amazing how dysfunctional it all is sometimes. Frustrating how all these companies beg for sales, the govt cries for taxes and fees....and they all make the experience less than fun to give them money.
