    Frank,

I got a video idea for you. Might be something you have not done yet too!!!

Ever tried trolling one of the Offshore Mini-planner boards from your Kayak? Might be something pretty cool to see. I'll bet you know some good spots on Wixom that might be worth giving it a try. Run the bait up close to the bank without having to get too close. Send Nick a PM and see if you can get one to do a video on. You might just change Kayak fishing!!

It's funny that you mention using planer boards from my yak because I was just looking at a couple of them the other day, thinking I need to do something with them. I have never owned a planer board, and have only used them on a couple occasions with a buddy fishing for walleye, so I really know nothing about them. But I think they would work well on Wixom and Houghton, and I am always up for something new. You know what they say about great minds. Hahahaha

I really think the mini boards (OR34) would work great. I've seen people in the past trolling with boats (rowing) and with Kayaks just for the exercise of it. The OR 34 takes way less speed to keep upright. Put a jig and soft plastic behind it and you would be golden. I don't however suggest pulling the board with a micro lite or ultra light rod. But a standard spinning rod should do you pretty well. One of those boards would be all you need (they can change from left to right). This time of year, I would think you could paddle within 40 feet of shore and run a board out to the target area close to shore. Would also be something fun to do while you are going from spot to spot.

I have a small planar board, the OR34 and have used it on stoney creek with my yak catching bluegills. I have just the one, but it was nice having three lines out in a yak and no tangles.

Thanks Jim. And thanks for the good word elsewhere. We had a pretty successful day and I think I was able to help him out a bit. He was pretty much a live bait fisherman, so the 20 or so that he caught on the jig combos was nice to see.
