I have a NAPA gel cell battery that was removed from a dump trailer over 12 years ago that I use to crank my outboard.

Wow, I sure hope you have some jumper cables on board. That is a long life for any battery. Wish I had a couple like that, 4 to 5 years is about the best I get with lead acid.

I bought my current boat a year ago(used) and it has two NAPA marine cranking batteries in it(lead acid). I figured I would kill the one on the TM but I have run it for 5 hours non stop and it was still going strong. I may look at NAPA when I need new ones.
Anyone know who makes them for NAPA??

My biggest beef with some of the new product is the warranties. So many things sold today that are double or triple or more the price of the standard models have a year maybe two warranty. Now I understand all the reasons why they can't warranty a battery or some other product for long periods. But none the less it is hard to spend that kind of money with the realization I may be looking at that expensive product just as dead as the cheap stuff just out of warranty. Even the fishfinders...I mean a year or two on a product that cost $1000.00 dollars or more? It's hard for me to shell out that kind of money without a little more confidence from a company in their product then that. And I do not care about the bean counter math or corporate strategy reinforced by "experts" in the marketing and loss prevention telling why it has to be that way.

I also have my risk assessment expert on staff. And he says it is too risky to spend big money on something with so short a full replacement warranty.
