Hit Santee on Friday for the first time in three weeks. I had planned on striper fishing early, then do a little long line trolling afterwards. The striper were not cooperating, so I headed to a creek to try the crappie. Many boats were in areas that I wanted to try so I went to plan B. I broke out the jig pole and headed to a Cyprus grove located in shallow water. I focused on trees in the 2 to3 foot range. Third tree fished, I had that big thump I was looking for. I rolled a big ol black buck crappie on top only to have him get off. Next tree, same result. I was definitely out of practice as it showed. Things got better after that as I boated 31 fish in a row without losing one. Tally for the day was 45 crappie caught, along with a dozen trash fish. Big fish was a hen topping the scale at 2.68 lbs. with a very nice limit getting the ride home.
Big it fish on the day.

Nice catch Tim and thanks for sharing. I heard you and Ray were going to terrorize Murray today.

I hate to hear the stripers didn't want to play but I'm glad you got a limit of crappie. That's a nice one on the scale. You had great weather for it.Thanks for the report and pics.

Awesome report Ink, I am hoping to latch hold of some Santee slabs next weekend! Was planning on tightlining or trolling but may have to bring the jig pole!

The colors on those fish are in full plumage! Lots darker and prettier than what we have been catching in 10-20 FOW on the Savannah chain. Thanks for the report and pics!
