Default WINDY DAYS AND MONDAYS GET ME DOWN

The Kowboy and I fished Lake Oconee today. We got to the boat ramp around 7:30 and caught our first fish at 8:00 a.m. The bite was good early and then the wind started blowing. We finally decided it would be best to motor upwind and troll downwind to save the trolling motor battery. The fish were in the channel until late in the morning when we began to notice they were on the move. It was a tough day of fishing but we were able to eke out 26 solid fish. The average size was at least 13 inches. We caught fish on every color while pushing 6 rods out of the front of the boat and long lining an additional 6 rods out of the front and 4 rods out of the back. We quit fishing at 4:00. The water was 50-51 degrees when we started and 52-53 when we finished. The fish caught early were in 17-20 FOW and those caught later in the day were at 14-15 feet. We plan on fishing again tomorrow and hope to find a spot out of the wind. The winds tomorrow are supposed to be be worse than today.

By the way. Good to meet you striperking.

Glad to meet yall to. Yall did better than I did. I pretty much went straight back to the flats where I thought they would be,I was wrong there were some fish on the flats but not many.It looked liked yall ran out of juice when I saw you later on in the day. I wished that I had taken my pulling rods on a day like today. The 2 hair that I had left on my head are gone now.I would be going back tomorrow but the wind is suppose to be worst tomorrow.Hope you find them biting.

It was a tough day. Yeah we ran out of juice alright, physically. That wind whipped us pretty good. It was a bit frustrating not to be able to find the fish after most moved out of the channel. I don't know how that many fish could hide? We did manage to find a few strays later in the afternoon. The last few fish caught were the biggest of the day.

Earl I may be retired but I'm working harder than ever. Between chasing these fish and all the remodeling ideas my wife gets from Southern Living Magazine and HGTV I don't know if I can go on much longer.

We fished WestPoint and the wind was twice as worse than forecast. When it did die down the action picked up.
