    Default Starkville Ms

Is there any good crappie water close to Starkville or am I gonna have to ride to Grenada. I have a daughter who should be starting at MSU in the fall and would like to drag the boat with me a time or two. She likes to fish and figure it would give her a break and she is already worried about missing home. Being an Auburn fan I told her I would allow her to go there but no cow bells and no boys from Ms. at my house. LOL

    Thanks

Tombigbee Waterway is a pretty good fishery, Grenada is only an hour away.

Maybe GetDaGrease or Feesh will get on and see this. They live close to Starkville and fish down that way quite a bit. Wish I could help more just never fished down that way. I know supposed to be some good fishing on the river down there and around Columbus on the waterway wich is not very far at all. By the way good school. My daughter is finishing up a Internship there. Been there 6 years and enjoyed every minute of it.

The TenTom Waterway is gonna be your closest place. Actually hundreds of miles of fishable water including backwaters, creeks, and the waterway itself. The crappie are smaller than those in the big 4, but you can catch limits of 11"-14" crappie with a few big ones. The river is a lot shallower than what you are accustomed to at Wheeler, lots of hazards. So be careful. Another option is Bluff Lake on the Noxubbee Refuge. It's only open to fishing from March thru October. Big fish there, but it's a tough nut to crack.

I prefer fishing the AL portion, and get a license every year.

I can think of allot worse things to have in your house than a man from Mississippi....She will love State, and you will enjoy the waterway...

I have a daughter also hoping to attend MSU this fall in Vet program. Best of luck to your daughter. If Grenada is only hour away be hard for me not to fish it!

My daughter is a freshman this year at State. She is in Chemical engineering down there. Got her brains and her looks from her Momma. She absolutley loves MSU and we do as well. VERY nice people in Starkville. Being Tennessee fans makes it awkward but they do not play each other for now so we get by. She loves to fish as well and i had thought about taking the boat down as well. Most of my spring fishing is on Pickwick so she may just have to drive up to Iuka! Fishing with her Grand Pa in the pic attached
