    Default Grand Bayou reservoir

I have a friend wanting me to go down to Grand Bayou and fish this weekend. I have never been there and was wondering if it is a good crappie fishing lake. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated . I have been searching for a map of the lake with no luck

it can be a GREAT crappie lake. my wife's uncle has a deer lease that borders the lake and when they draw it down, no one can use the launch. he has a john boat that he pushes off into the lake and goes around and marks all the tops. i have caught some absolute hogs out of there. but i don't go enough to really know where to send you. good luck!!

just be aware, there are lots and lots of brush tops out in the "open water". it doesn't have as defined channel as cypress. but there is definitely deeper water running fromthe bridge to the dam.

If you are talking about Grand Bayou in Coushatta,LA. they have drained it a lot. There is some water in it but the channel behind my son's house is dry. Better call the office there before you go.

Thanks for heads up. The lake has been drained and is still open... but people were having to push small jon boats off the trailers. Guess that means I'm out till the water level rises

Grand Bayou can be a challenge for a first timer - that channel (or channels) is a winding labyrinth across the whole lake that can make you pull your hair out. But if you manage to stay on top of it long enough you can find some brush tops and 90% of the year that's where the fish are. And by the bridge.
That being said - Never been when the water was low. Is it so low that you can only see the channel?? Id love to go and scope it out.

On any body of water, take your cell phone and go to Google Maps, on the top left menu bar click on it and scroll down to Terrain, click on Terrain and it will show you where you are and where the channel is. The little blue triangle will be you and it will move when you move. Josh and I use this feature a lot. It works.

Tried it once - couldnt see my dang phone out in the sun. Its just a little thin blue line on the blue water you can barely see it. So its really accurate?!

Everytime we have used it, it was very accurate. I put my hat over my phone till I can see where I'm at. LOL!!!
