Of course I could have said one of the following:
1. It was still a beautiful day on the water.
2. That’s why they call it fishing, not catching.
3. I don’t go to catch fish, I go to relax.
4. It was a nice day for a boat ride.
5. I just needed to run the engine.
6. There was a good band playing at The Jetty, so we came in early.
7. It’s not how many fish you catch, it’s how good you look fishing.
8. I just wanted to work on my tan.
9. I enjoy bird watching as much as catching fish.
10. I didn’t get skunked, I ran out of time.
I only needed to offload the boat to work on the boat trailer
The only reason to go fishing/catching is to get away from home.
Which lake?
Marv - long lines in the Tennoroc Strip pits under the watchful eye of FWC
management keepers-
Do not give up Marv - Strip pit fishing is different than open water - lake fishing....
Must say you have an assortment of reasons why they were not jumping on the
hook...

Harold,
I was just joking with the reasons. LOL
Not a person to give up, been fishing for many years, hope I still have a few more left.
I was just telling it, like it was, no excuses. The fish were there, I just didn't put the right combinations together to catch any.
Water temps were 83 degrees, a slight East wind from time to time, partly cloudy skies, heavy rains the night before.
Didn't do any longlining.
Tried slow trolling .3-.4 mph, had 4 rods out. bare hook and minner, one of Dave's jigs tipped with minner, Jelly jig tipped with nibble, Bobby Garland slider & nibble. Colors I tried were chart, light & Dark blue, Black/ chart. Chart/red specks.
But you know what? At the end of the day I sit back and am so grateful, that I can still do this at my age! The best thing is, I'm still learning and its fun.
'til next time,
pescador
