I have some of the 2 oz. and 3 oz. weights from Scott as well. Work nicely because I don't have as much line out. The problem with me though is catching too many catfish. I've learned not to use orange or pink because they love those colors. Still catch way too many for some reason.

What kind of area are you fishing ? I mainly follow the shad and run my cranks in open water.....get a catfish or a stripe sometimes but not often. If I push them in a cove and go up the creek I will catch more catfish. Most of our crappie are whites and in the summer they follow the shad and suspend in open water. I check their depth on my fish finder and try to run my baits a foot or two above them. They will come up a little to hit one but they wont go down. Fishing too deep will produce catfish too.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Creeks for sure catch more catfish to me, so try to stay away from them with the cranks. I've pushed/pulled on the edges of the boat lanes, over flats with grass, between the pilings on bridges, etc. Varied speed, depth, etc. Guess someone is going to have to show me. Sure is relaxing doing it though with the Ipilot.
