    Default Shellcracker or redear jig.

Does anyone use hair jigs for shellcracker or redear?? I make my own crappie hair jigs, but have never used them for shellcracker. I have caught a few while crappie fishing. Thinking of tying some 1/32 black hair when the shellcrackers go on bed. Just wondering if anyone has had any success using hair jigs.

We do very well with a 1/16 or 1/32 black head with a natural squirrel tail. They used to be tied by a local man that has since passed away. They were called bream killers.

They work but there are days when they want something else - I actually like grizzly bear over the air moves better in the water

We have used very tiny jigs called Rockhoppers tipped with nibbles for Redears.

I haven't tried hair jigs, but I've caught plenty on 1/32 oz. black plastics (beetles and 1" twisters). Can't imagine why a small hair jig in black wouldn't work.

I've never tried hair, but a black marabou jig has been killer for me.

when they are shallow I use a 1/24 or 1/16 green chartreuse kiptail jig tipped with a redworm or 1/2 of one depending on how large the worms are, hook the worm thru the end so that it waves around behind the jig, never tried a black hair jig for them yet.

I have never used a jig for them. I will give that a shot this Spring. However, they love a #12 beadhead Hares Ear nymph under an indicator. Deadly!!!

Nimrod, could you put up a pic of one of those rockhopper jigs? I would love to see what they look like.
