Default North River out of Indian Town

I had the pleasure of fishing with Hunter and Jordanlimit yesterday on the North River. We at met up at 6am and made the rainy drive out. We launched the boat in a down pour and by the time we were a few minutes out the rain stopped. We were there for Yellow Perch. I would say after 10 minutes or so we found a few. Then Hunter hooks into a 21" Striper. After a fight on the Crappie rod we were able to get him in the boat.

It was soon after the Striper was landed the wind turned on hard out of the Northwest. Fishing was tough to say the least but we were picking up one here and there. We ended up the day with 13 Perch, 5 Crappie and the Striper. I have to say Hunter's boat is a fishing machine and that canopy was the ticket yesterday. There would have been no we way we could have fished in my boat with that weather. It did a great job of blocking the wind allowing us to continue fishing.

JL worked hard on the trolling motor keeping us on the fish too! He had is rods out the front and would hide in the shelter then run out and catch fish. We all had a good time. Shared laughs on the ride out, fishing and on the ride back. The weather was undesirable but all in all I thought we had a great day on the water. Thanks Again Guys I had a blast!

    Here's Hunter with his Striper.

I will agree with Redboat that it was a tough day, but we did come back with some fish. Thanks also to Redboat for being our guide for the day. I have lived and fished in NC all my life, but never went after yellow perch like we did yesterday. It's a 3-hour drive from Raleigh, but something I definitely want to do again in the future.

I also want to thank those that created Crappie.com. Charles (Hunter) and I fish together almost every Saturday now. We met through Crappie.com and fished together at one of the Jordan Lake socials. I've talked to Tony (Redboat) on the water before and read his postings, but had never fished together until yesterday. Yes, the conditions were bad (rain, 40 degree temps and 20+ winds at times), but we enjoyed a day on the water together going after one of the bounties found in our NC waters. We also shared lots of fishing stories and tips to each other on the drive over and back. A tiring, but good day.

One thing we found in common--our wives think we are crazy and gone a little overboard on fishing.

You guys have to hurry and come back before the end of February. There's still plenty of time! Here's what we caught this past Monday. Name: 20150119_165116.jpg

Well it sounds like you guys had a big time despite the weather not cooperating. I fish alone 90% of the time, but would love some company if any of you guys ever come down to the Wilmington area to do some fishing. Glad y'all found some fish. And JL, my other half would agree with your wives about being crazy about fishing. She usually has some choice words for me when I leave at 4am in the 40 degree rain on Saturday morning. And you know what... The wives are 100% right! But hey, there are worse things to be crazy about.

    Redboat:

What a great host and a great fishing friend. I'll be happy to join up on another fishing adventure wherever.
As bad as the conditions were, the fishing and fellowship made the trip for me.
My picky wife (the Colonel) tried the Yellow Perch for the first time and absolutely loved it; I've been given an order to "go out and get more YP". That's the first "honey do list" item I want to do :-)
Again, thanks for a wonderful trip and let's get together on the water again soon.

Go through Elizabeth City and Camden on Hwy 17. Turn right at flashing light. You're not far from Currituck Sound.

A buddy's dad has been getting covered up with stripers while crappie fishing in there lately.
