Totally agree with you guys, the first time I ever saw those rubber bobber stops was in my neighbors garage, he was pegging a worm weight with them ( for bass fishing). He told me who would have ever thought a crappie bobber stop would be the best worm weight peg they make (by the way they do work perfect for that). I went straight to bass pro and picked some up, now I couldn't fish a slip cork without them.

FYI, I like these bobbers or corks as we call em.
The #2 size works great for 1/32 and 1/16 jigs, and using added small shot to stop cork from slamming jig.
The #3 size is what I like for a big ol shiner with a #1 shot.
The #1 size is useless in my opinion.
Never use green cork when fishing around lily pads and green slop.

BTW, these are opinions only. I never said I caught anything using these cork thingys.

I agree with all above said about slip corks etc. If I fish deep regardless if it's with jigs only or shiners, I fish without any cork. In fact, I will use a cork chiefly when I am fishing in 3 feet or less. I know probably some of you say I am probably missing out on hooking some fish without a cork, but I think it's better to learn the feel of the bite fishing deeper by tightlining without a cork.
Plus you're at an advantage already by fishing from a kayak. There's less profile and disturbance on the water. Many many anglers are catching more fish when in a kayak. It's kind of like wading too since you do a better job in covering water more thoroughly.
That's just my <2-cents worth. But everything above I agree with and have tried.

Well said. An enjoyment I have though is watching the cork go down when I get the catch to be out on the water.

I just ordered 6 of these in 3 different sizes. I'm guessing I'll still need a stopper, right? If so, it looks like the best thing would be to use those rubber ones that I have yet to buy. Again, thanks for all the advice

You can go to harbor freight and get a pack of 200 aluminum rivets for about two bucks they fit very snugly into the 99 cent Walmart special corks

Thanks for the support, folks. If anyone has any questions, let me know. In my humble opinion, slip bobbers would be a great way to fish deep from a kayak.
