NO, NO, NO ..... ABSOLUTELY NO !!!!!
WD-40 isn't, wasn't, and never has been vegetable based ... nor has it EVER contained fish oil.
It's a petroleum based product of oil & solvents.
Even the WD-40 Company put out a disclaimer that the product was not recommended for use as a fish attractant. Check out this Snopes report, and notice that #39 Fish attractant was removed by the manufacturer as not a recommended use. The link also disclaims the "fish oil" idea, by showing the MSDS listed ingredients. snopes.com: Uses for WD-40 Spray Lubricant
PLEASE do not continue to contribute to the misinformation about WD-40 !! There is absolutely nothing in its contents that will attract fish.

What about the use of apple pie Pappy? The article came from facebook so what can we expect. Pappy is WD40 harmful to the environment?
Everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer!
I've handled my baits with gas & oil residue, suntan lotion, bug spray, tobacco residue, and who knows what else on my hands ... and the fish still bit it. Whether or not more of them would have bit, if I didn't have any of those "scents" on my hands ... isn't possible to know. That said ... I don't think apple pie is going to deter a hungry Slab from grabbing a bait
WD-40 is harmful to the environment, according to the EPA ... but, that's only because of the release of CO2 gas from the can (which is what WD-40 uses as an aerosol in the spray cans). Other than that ... all the other chemicals are considered biodegradable. It's something akin to a light oil & mineral spirits combination ... so it's probably not something we'd want being used in/around our waters.

I think Terry dunks his minners and jigs in the fruit jar before dropping them in the water ...
