Awesome, I enjoy the summer fishing myself!

I've always read and heard how hard it is to catch crappie in the heat of summer. So I set a few high an personal goals to find and catch crappie for the month of August during the hottest part of the day, when hardly anyone is out fishing. I knew I would have to push myself to learn more about my electronics, and find new spots for fish, since in previous years my august numbers are low and my go to places are crappieless. And while most are fishing and catching at nights I knew that was not an option for me and my schedule. I spent the last couple of months reading about "when crappies go deep", and how to catch in "the dog days of summer", lots of you tube videos, and looking at maps for drops, ditches, and ledges. Time to put all that to work an see if i could find them an then catch them. Heres my report
Fished with TennCrappie last of July on the Hiwassee, cooler water 76, His game plan = no fish/ my game plan, new water, new docks = crappie, Thanks for trip Chris, Lets do that again and check out some more docks.
This week I fished everyday, early am, mid afternoon, late afternoons Water temps averaged 83/84, I fished alone. I also laid to rest my go to color Electric chicken and did my best to fish out of my comfort zones (different docks, deep deep water, and other BG colors and jigs)
Desire + Determination = Destiny
Results: I caught 2 TARPS on 2 separate deep drop ledges, I found a few docks that will go on my list to check more often, I gained lots more confidence, and I think Ghastly Minnow will be a new go to color for me.
Since I was on a roll, I took one of my co-workers fishing, Ho-Che Dave, Thursday. He is a huge bass guy, that had laid his rods to rest while getting a couple of kids through college and weddings. He asked me if he could tag along and bass fish while I was crappie fishing, I laughed and agreed. Well after I "put on a clinic" (His words) he quickly was reaching for one of my crappie rods and learning how to detect the famous crappie Thump. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed "schooling" him on crappie fishing, just about as much as I enjoyed kissing my 3rd Deep water TARP crappie of the week.
Now next goal is crankbait crappie fishing deep. So far I love the month of August for crappie fishing!

You've done well little sister and have taught me a thing or 2. Keep pluggin and you can teach me some more. One thing I'm good at is listening. But don't lose site of the fact that fish are fish and when you think you got it all figured they will throw you a curve. Good post and great pix. thanks for sharing.

Congrats on a good goal, sticking to it and achieving the goal as well. It's also pretty hard to beat Tncrappie at this game, so another congrats is definitely in order. Keep on whooping him up. LOL
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.CUonthelake LIKED above post
