gnrboyd just get a sack of whole kennel field corn at the feed store. get a cheap wally world stock pot and fill it half way up or more. soak it for at least 24 hours in a dark setting no lid. this lets the corn ferment and release its gas. then boil for 30 to 45 min to soften the shell. throw some out for chum and bait your hook. could freeze leftovers. if the corn is not prepared correctly the gas can release inside the fish/ shell wont be soft enough to digest and kill it.

Back in the day we had to run the cows to pasture across Bouef Creek in the morning and get them back in the evening. In the hot summer days some would wade out belly deep and lots of em would crap in the water. The carp new the corn was coming when the cows were in the creek. One day I went above the last cow and threw out a line baited with dough bait on the old Johnson Century. I went to get the cows out of the water and heard a splash. I looked back to see the rod was gone! As one cow was coming out I saw the treble hook imbedded in her udder and dragging my pole where apparently the carp went under her, became fouled, and got off. My dad was none to happy to have to remove a treble hook from one of the holsteins before we could milk her. My carp fishing enthusiasm waned a great deal after that!

well sir, I will support you and your endeavor to fish for anything you want, and when you want. Heck I eat smoked oysters and purple onion samich, so who am I to pick on you for your bad habits, we all got em.
Carp are fun to catch, but would rather eat the smoked oysters than the scaly fish. Used to be a bar in Omaha that served carp sandwiches, guess they were good cuz they sold a lot of them. Try a ritz cracker topped with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese, a smoked oyster and a pepperoncini. Pop it in your mouth and wash it down with either homebrew or some type of dark beer.

Very cool. Common carp is the last fish I need for my Missouri Rough Fish Grand Slam this year. They put up a fun fight the whole way.
