The brush bite remains really good on Lake Marion, (Santee) this past Thursday and Friday. I was supposed to play golf Thursday, but with the rain chances what they were my playing partners bailed on me. Not to let a little rain stand in my way, I got up early and to the lake I went. The conditions were nearly perfect on Thursday, and the fish were eating it up in front of the impending weather system. I limited out in short order and arrived back home before any rain came down. On Friday Tommy and I got an early start, but were really disappointed at how the day begin. A strong line of storms came thru overnight and apparently shut the fish down. It took us a while to figure how to catch them, but figure it out we did. The fish were holding right on the bottom and had a bad case of lockjaw. The live bait had to be dropped all the way down, raised up a little and kept motionless before the fish would decide to eat it. On Thursday, fish catches were about 50/50 Rooty Tooty jigs VS. minnows. On Friday, it was 95/5 in favor of the live bait. On Thursday most fish catches were made on deep brush, with white crappie to black crappie being 50/50 in the creel. Friday was a mostly black crappie day, with brush in the 12 to 15 foot range being best. We had to dodge a couple of rain showers along the way, but were thankful for the unoccupied boat houses that gave us refuge since we both left our rain suits in the truck.
Thursdays slick conditions.
A nice white that ate up my Rooty Tooty on Thursday.
Thursday's cooler shot.
The ominous skies from Friday.
Tommy with a slab from Friday.
Friday's limit catches of nice black crappie.

Well at least the rain gear didn't get wet.
Nice catches, if it was all great catching they wouldn't call it fishing
Great Pictures as well!
Enjoyed the report Tim and congrats on the catch both days you and Tommy had, those are some nice crappie.
