It fared far better than me. The mud and my body broke its fall so it had something soft to land on.

I actually stood it up and rode it 40 miles to the Fort Riley Emergency Room where I hobbled on in, then afterward took the splint off and gave the crutches to my wife, put my broken ankle back in to my Forma boot (which saved my foot and leg from worse damage) and rode it home. Then the wife, a Registered Nurse, re-splinted me and i could finally take some pain meds. I wasn't going to leave it there at the ER. I just said, hell I rode it here.......

Well had a splint till today for my follow up. I asked for a Ortho Cam Boot. They laughed and said "No".....Cast because they "thought" there would be a high likelihood of some strange phrase I no Not the meaning of...."NoN-Compliance"....I think its Latin. The said some other strange stuff about "Plate and Screws"

I looked around as maybe I accidentally wandered into Home Depot .....plate & screws....I thought I was seeing medical people.... Hmmmph......really I think they are Carpenters

Fort Riley??? KAG are you ARMY? My father was stationed at Fort Riley for 12 years. I had apendexe taken out at Irwin Army Hospital. I grew up in St. George.

I wish you a speed recovery.... As far as the bike goes. That is one sweet ride. We had many years riding our bikes to local farm ponds.
Pot county lake 2 and there are a few hiden ponds along high 24, you would never even know they were there.

I hope you heal quickly, spring is just around the corner.

    Brightest Blessings.
Wishing you Blue Skies and Tight Lines
